Awards & Honours

Professor Joseph Chen, Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, is co-winner of the Triological Society's Harris P. Mosher Award for his thesis, "Cost Utility Assessment of Bilateral Cochlear Implantation: A Health Economic Evaluation in Adults from the Perspective of a Publicly Funded Program." The award is the Society's highest honour for clinical research.

Professor Gillian Hawker, Department of Medicine and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Governor General of Canada. The medal recognizes Hawker's outstanding scientific achievements in the field of osteoarthritis and osteoporosis research. 

Professor Ron Deibert, director of Citizen Lab is the winner of the 2013 CLA Advancement of Intellectual Freedom in Canada Award from the Canadian Library Association for commitment to research, advocacy, and activism in national and global abuses of cyber technology and for courage in defending intellectual freedom against human rights violations.
 

Professor Salvatore Bancheri, Italian Studies, has also won the Joan E. Foley Quality of Student Experience Award for significant contribution to improving the quality of academic student life on campus.
 

Dr. Carl-Georg Bank, Earth Sciences, has won the Joan E. Foley Quality of Student Experience Award for significant contribution to improving the quality of academic student life on campus.
